Back in 2022 I stumbled across an initiative on Instagram. The Fabulous John Pedder came up with an idea (in 2018) to help good causes by making art. Called 'one of many postcards', this initiative invited artists to make postcard-sized artworks of any kind and then offer them for free to anyone who wanted one. The recipient was then invited to make a donation* to a charity or good cause of their choosing (*equivalent to the monetary value they attributed to the artwork).
In 2022 I made a series of mixed media postcards and sent them off to recipients all over the world. I got some great feedback about the charities that were being supported. This year I am taking part in 1/manypostcards again and I have created a lovely set of colourful abstract postcards, some of which you can see below. I have already had a number of requests for cards and will be sending them out over the next week or so. I love making art that helps others and 1/many postcards is a great way to this because it can support charities and causes that I am not even aware of, in places that I have never been. That makes me very happy indeed!
